About the Role As our first in-house Back-End Engineer, you'll be at the heart of Manta Cares' technical foundation, working directly on the core systems that power our patient navigation platform. You'll take ownership of our existing Golang codebase and shepherd it towards production readiness, while architecting and optimizing the cloud infrastructure and deployment systems that will scale with our growth. This is a unique opportunity to shape the technical backbone of a product that makes a real difference in people's lives during their most challenging moments. We're building a tight-knit engineering team in San Francisco, and you'll play a pivotal role in taking our platform from development to public release and beyond! As a Founding Front End Engineer, you will: Design and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure using IaC tools Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot cloud services and costs Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation Design and develop new features and APIs using Golang Ensure high performance, reliability, and scalability of our back-end systems, troubleshoot issues in production Implement best practices in code quality, testing, and documentation Collaborate with other developers and the head of engineering and product manager You must have: 5+ years of professional software development experience Strong proficiency in Golang and its ecosystem Experience with RESTful API design and implementation Proven experience architecting and managing production cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.) Expertise in database design and optimization (SQL and NoSQL) Proven ability to quickly understand and work with existing codebases Experience taking products from development to production You might also have: Familiarity with microservices architecture Experience with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines Knowledge of performance optimization and scalability best practices Experience working in a startup environment Strong communication skills and ability to work independently Contributions to open-source projects Experience in a fast-growing startup environment Key Details Full-time; Hybrid in the SF office, at least 2 days a week (currently Tuesday/Wednesday) Salary: $180,000 - $210,000 (range is based on years of relevant work experience) Meaningful equity package with significant upside potential What we offer: Comprehensive Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance Flexible, unlimited Paid Time Off In-person workspace in Mission Bay/Downtown SF Weekly in office team lunches and monthly team events Direct collaboration with company leadership Opportunity to work on meaningful problems in the healthcare/life sciences domain Exposure to the full product development lifecycle, from design to production support Manta Cares is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive team.
