Your Day as a Senior Backend & Cloud Engineer

• Your responsibilities will cover the following key areas:Backend Engineering & Architecture:Designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure REST / gRPC APIs and microservices (Python/FastAPI, Go).
• Data modeling and relational database optimization (PostgreSQL).
• Ensuring code quality through automated testing strategies (unit, integration, end-to-end).
• Cloud, Infrastructure as Code & GitOps:Architecting, deploying, and managing Cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS: EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, IAM, Lambda, Networking).
• Automating Cloud infrastructure end-to-end using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, OpenTofu).
• Container orchestration using Kubernetes (EKS) and implementing Continuous Deployment workflows based on GitOps principles (ArgoCD / Flux).
• Designing and optimizing automated CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
• Managing observability (monitoring, metrics, logs, tracing with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Elastic) and maintaining high availability.

Your profile

• Your essential skills for success in this roleEducation: Degree in Computer Science (EPFL/HES Engineer, Master's degree) or equivalent practical qualification.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a Backend Engineering role with a strong Cloud & Infrastructure component.
• Backend Engineering: Proficiency in modern languages (Python/FastAPI, Go), microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, SQL/NoSQL, and Clean Code (Essential).
• Cloud Infrastructure: Proven operational experience on Amazon AWS (Essential).
• IaC & GitOps: Solid practical experience with Terraform/OpenTofu (module design, state management), Kubernetes, and GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux (Essential).
• DevOps & CI/CD: Strong knowledge of containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, and observability stacks.
• Languages: Good command of French and technical English. A good working knowledge or proficiency in German is essential to collaborate effectively with Swiss-German teams and clients.
