OPPORTUNITY

We’re seeking a strong Senior Backend Engineer to take true ownership of the backend direction for our team. This isn’t just about writing code -we need someone who can lead technical decision-making, set architectural direction, and ensure backend work is cohesive, maintainable, and forward-looking.
We’re seeking a passionate senior Laravel PHP engineer with extensive experience to join our dynamic engineering team. You’ll design, develop, and maintain our REST API, focusing on lender and data enrichment integrations - broad third-party API integration experience is essential. Working with cross-functional teams, you’ll deliver innovative features, ensure system reliability, and help shape our engineering culture.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Experience: 6+ years of professional experience with PHP and Laravel.
• Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of PHP 8.3+ features, best practices, and advanced concepts.
• API Development: Extensive experience building and maintaining REST APIs at scale. Tech Stack: Proficiency with Redis, MySQL, and Docker. Basic knowledge of AWS services is a plus.
• Testing: Strong commitment to writing comprehensive feature and unit tests, with a focus on achieving high test coverage.
• Optimization: Proven experience optimizing database queries and solving performance-related challenges.
• Problem-Solving: Self-motivated, with a passion for solving complex problems through code.
• Collaboration: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team.
• Mindset: A curiosity for learning, continuous improvement, and a drive to tackle challenges of scale.

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable REST APIs using Laravel 11+ and PHP 8.3+.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define, design, and implement new features.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code following best practices and design patterns (e.g., SOLID, DRY, KISS).
• Optimize database queries and improve overall application performance (addressing N+1 query problems).
• Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our systems.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to the growth of our engineering team.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality and share knowledge.
• Stay current with PHP and Laravel developments to enhance our technology stack.
