At Verisk Med, you'll work in the Platform Team on a digital claims platform that supports insurance processes across multiple countries and business units. The role is clearly backend and platform-focused, offering you senior-level autonomy in architecture, technical quality, standards, and engineering collaboration. You'll not only develop features but also shape how our platform grows, remains stable, and scales over the long term. You'll strategically utilize modern AI tools like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot to effectively improve development, testing, refactoring, and documentation.

You develop modern backend and platform solutions

• You will build and further develop NestJS backend services, APIs, and file processing pipelines.
• You design event-driven workflows with RabbitMQ and ensure clean technical processes.
• You are responsible for service integrations, API contracts, and event schemas in a microservices architecture.
• You will develop and optimize PostgreSQL data models and high-performance database queries.

You will assume technical responsibility.

• You shape technical designs and architectural decisions for new platform features.
• You will work on key platform topics such as permissions, document services, and shared infrastructure.
• You ensure that solutions are multi-tenant capable and consistently configuration-driven.
• You improve reliability, observability, testing, and operational stability.

You strengthen engineering quality and collaboration

• You support other engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical coaching.
• You work closely with frontend engineers, but keep a clear focus on backend and platform.
• You explain technical topics clearly and concisely, and you support well-informed decisions within the team.
• You ensure small, reviewable changes, clear technical contracts, and high code quality.

You are using AI-assisted engineering effectively.

• You use Claude Code, GitHub Copilot and similar tools specifically for development, testing and refactoring.
• You use AI tools responsibly to understand codebases faster and improve documentation.
• You will help establish pragmatic AI-assisted engineering practices within the team.

Must-have

• Several years of backend experience with Node.js, TypeScript and modern API-based architectures.
  • Experience in developing productive microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
  • Confident handling of PostgreSQL, data modeling and high-performance database structures.
  • Experience with automated tests, CI/CD processes and quality-oriented software development.
  • Ability to lead technical initiatives, make architectural decisions, and coach engineers.
  • Excellent English skills and the ability to communicate technical topics clearly and reliably.

Nice-to-have

• Experience as a Tech Lead, Staff Engineer or in a comparable role with platform responsibility.
  • Practical experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS or other messaging and event systems.
  • Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform or modern cloud and platform engineering setups.
  • Knowledge of OIDC, Keycloak, Okta or similar identity and access management solutions.
  • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms, regulated industries, or AI-assisted engineering in a team context.
