Role Overview: The Backend Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting the backend of the product. This includes handling data storage, API routes, data modeling, and API development. The Backend Engineer will also be involved in coordinating with other teams to ensure that there are no conflicts between backend systems and third party applications. Responsibilities: Write unit tests for new features developed by other engineers Maintain the databases and services that power the backend of our product Coordinate with other teams to ensure that there are no conflicts between backend systems and third party applications. Maintain a high level of service by identifying potential performance bottlenecks before they happen. Work closely with our product managers to determine what data is needed to build features or provide analytics on our users. Assist with any tasks related to ensuring the integrity of our user data. 6+ years of experience in software enigneering with focus on backend Degree in computer science or computer engineering Proficiency with Python Familiarity with database technology such as MySQL, Oracle, and MongoDB Familiarity with containerization, in particular Docker Familiarity with orchestration and network technology, specifically Kubernetes Solid understanding of operating system and networking concepts Solid understanding of git tools ex: github Solid understanding of software design concepts Excellent verbal communication skills Strong organizational and project management skills Good problem-solving skills Attention to detail
