This role offers the opportunity to design and develop core backend services for a high-performance, distributed payment infrastructure. You will work in a fully remote, globally distributed engineering team, contributing to the development of scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems. The position emphasizes ownership and accountability, allowing you to make critical technical decisions while collaborating closely with product, frontend, and mobile teams. You will implement modern development practices, participate in system design, and create frameworks and tools that improve the developer and merchant experience. Collaborate across engineering, product, and other teams in a product-driven environment to deliver robust, scalable solutions. Drive and adopt modern development practices, including BDD, TDD, and code reviews, to ensure high-quality deliverables. Take ownership of technology decisions, optimizing systems for scale, performance, and maintainability. Produce clear, well-tested, and documented code while continuously improving internal workflows and engineering standards. Mentor and support team members while contributing to architectural discussions and technical strategy. Requirements: Strong experience in backend development, ideally with Python, though adaptable technical backgrounds are considered. Deep understanding of the full development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, and deployment. Experience with building developer frameworks, APIs, or tools that enable seamless integration for internal and external users. Self-motivated and autonomous, able to navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills suitable for a remote-first environment. Familiarity with modern infrastructure and cloud platforms (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform) is a plus. Understanding of payment systems and developer experience optimization is advantageous.
