Description:

USE YOUR TECH EXPERIENCE TO HELP PEOPLE LIVE HEALTHIER

Have you ever wanted to apply your engineering skills and experience to help others live healthier lives? At Wellth, we have an opportunity for you to do that.
Wellth strives to motivate and incentivize healthy habits through individualized care plans. Our approach draws on a unique combination of behavioral economics, habit science, and cutting-edge technology to drive positive behavior and habit change among some of the US’s most underserved and high-needs patient populations. Our work has produced demonstrable results, with several large health insurers reporting significant reductions in hospitalization rates by up to 44% in some cases. Our ambition is to be more than just another digital health startup; we aspire to be a category leader in the $88B health outcomes market, singularly focused on improving the lives and medical outcomes of historically hard-to-engage populations. Our work immediately impacts people’s lives daily; we have served over 50,000 patients and prevented an estimated 15,000 days in the hospital and 530 lives.

YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BUILD SYSTEMS THAT DRIVE HEALTHY HABIT EXPERIENCES

Specifically, you will:

  • Design, build, test, launch, and operate services that work with healthcare data that power Wellth’s mobile app and business-critical systems.
  • Deliver scalable and highly-available systems that are supported by operational excellence best practices.
  • Improve and contribute to developer experience by developing shared scripts, tooling, sharing knowledge via documentation and tech talks, and changing existing SDLC processes.
  • Own the solutions for Wellth’s business challenges, such as determining the best population to select for an invitation to use our mobile application, deciding the prioritization of which patients our support staff should contact, and designing a cost-effective solution for enriching our data with 3rd-party customer sources.
  • Protect members’ privacy by following secure SDLC guidelines to maintain our HITRUST certification.

YOU MIGHT BE THE CANDIDATE WE’RE LOOKING FOR.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • 5+ years of professional experience building production services using Node and Typescript.
  • 5+ years of professional experience troubleshooting, remediating, and learning from operational issues with a production service.
  • 5+ years of professional experience working in a team environment, contributing to a shared codebase, sharing technical knowledge through technical talks and documentation, and implementing developer tooling to improve team efficiency.
  • 3+ years of professional experience using Terraform or Cloud Formation to create cloud infrastructure and services found in offerings from AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure
  • 5+ years of professional experience working with relational and NoSQL databases
  • 5+ years of professional experience in writing idiomatic TypeScript that sets the example for code readability, maintainability, and simplicity.
  • 5+ years of professional experience with Git and version control best practices.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in writing unit and integration tests to validate the correctness of all critical code.
  • 3+ years of professional experience working with pub/sub architectures using RabbitMQ, Kafka, Amazon MQ, or SQS.
  • 3+ years of professional experience working with ElasticSearch, Solr, or alternatives
  • 3+ years of professional experience working with analytic databases such as Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake
  • 3+ years of professional experience working with large, highly confidential data sets in healthcare, legal, government, or financial industries
  • 3+ years of professional experience working with CI/CD tools such as Circle CI, Jenkins, or Github actions
  • 3+ years of professional experience working with APM tools such as DataDog
  • A consistent track record of solving highly complex technical problems with reliable delivery of their solutions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.

We expect our candidates to:

  • Operate with autonomy.
  • Thrive on the freedom and responsibility of working at a growing startup.
  • Take ownership of features from start to finish and collaborate well with engineers and other cross-functional roles.
  • Teach, coach, and mentor other engineers, being a force multiplier for the team.
  • Be a part of the solution that is helping to fix all aspects of healthcare from provider to payer to, most importantly, the person seeking care.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • 5+ years of experience building scalable, high-availability services using AWS and open-source technologies
  • 2+ years of experience working with a data orchestration tool such as Fivetran or Airflow
  • Proficiency working in an agile scrum development lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in building RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
  • Knowledge of data security to protect highly confidential and sensitive data.
  • Experience working with healthcare products and data.
  • We are a hybrid working company. Our ideal candidate resides in the Los Angeles area, able to work in the office at least two days per week
