About the Role: As the Senior BI Developer, you will lead the design, development, and optimisation of business intelligence solutions that deliver trusted, actionable insights across the organisation ensuring high standards of data quality, performance, and scalability, supporting data-driven decision-making at every level. Working across modern data platforms—including Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, SQL, and related technologies—you will create a robust analytics ecosystem that supports The Salvation Army’s mission and operational needs. This is a full time, fixed term (8 month) contract based out of Blackburn, Melbourne with hybrid working arrangements. Key Responsibilities: Design, build, and optimise end-to-end business intelligence solutions that deliver trusted, scalable insights Develop and maintain high-performance semantic models, applying advanced Power BI capabilities, and ensuring best-practice architecture and documentation across all BI assets Build automated, reliable data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Dataflows, and Notebooks), ensuring data quality, lineage, and strong governance across the end-to-end platform Translate complex data into clear insights, partners with stakeholders to understand business needs, and delivers impactful dashboards and reports aligned with organisational objectives Work collaboratively across Data & Insights and IT teams providing proactive communication and support data-driven decision-making across the organisation About You: 5+ years in Business Intelligence development, data analysis, and modelling PL-300: Power BI Data Analyst certification (DP-600: Fabric Analytics Engineer certification is desirable) Strong understanding of data warehousing principles, OLAP concepts, and ETL frameworks Expertise in Power BI, DAX, Power Query (M), and SQL Familiarity with Azure Data Factory and scalable ETL technologies Ability to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions Proven experience designing scalable data models and semantic models in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric (star schema, relationships, calculation groups, and model optimisation) Python proficiency (nice to have) for automation and data processing Why Work For Us: Eligible employees can access NFP Salary Packaging (up to $15,900 tax free) plus meals and entertainment benefit ($2,650) Generous paid Parental Leave for primary (12 weeks) and secondary carers + Purchased Leave Scheme (up to 8 weeks) + Workplace Support Leave (5 days) for volunteering in Salvos initiatives Flexible and hybrid WFH arrangements, access to Fitness Passport and Consumer Discounts Access to EAP and health & wellness initiatives Ongoing training and development opportunities that enhance on the job skills and proficiency Rewarding and fulfilling purpose driven careers that have positive and sustainable social impacts How to Apply: We are looking for compassionate people who share our mission and values, if you have the passion and drive to commit yourself to a challenging and rewarding role; we invite you to apply via the link and submit a current CV and a cover letter which details your alignment with the essential requirements of the role.
