Senior Bioinformatics Engineer (bioXcelerate) Hybrid · UK · Consultancy & Scientific Delivery bioXcelerate and Optima Partners have joined forces to deliver high‑impact data, AI, and scientific solutions across the life sciences sector. Together, we combine deep bioinformatics expertise with Optima’s proven consultancy and transformation capability to accelerate discovery for pharma, biotech, and research organisations. We’re looking for a hands‑on Senior Bioinformatics Engineer who enjoys building scalable workflows, solving complex data problems, and contributing directly to high‑value drug discovery programmes. You’ll work across genomics and multi‑omics projects, often embedded with client teams, helping shape computational strategy and delivering rigorous scientific outputs. What you’ll do Develop and optimise bioinformatics workflows (Nextflow preferred) for large‑scale genomics/omics datasets. Build reproducible pipelines for HPC and cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure). Analyse genomic and multi‑omics data using Python, R and bash. Support study design, interpret results, and communicate insights to technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Contribute to continuous improvement across tools, systems, and data quality. About you MSc or PhD‑equivalent in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistical Genetics or similar. Strong coding skills (Python, R, bash) and experience with WGS/WES or other omics datasets. Workflow experience (Nextflow, WDL, Snakemake, CWL). Comfortable in HPC and cloud environments; Git‑fluent. Confident communicator who thrives in collaborative, client‑facing work. Bonus experience: Docker/Singularity, population genetics, MLOps, TREs, or consultancy delivery.
