Veritas Education are working with a Secondary school based in Kensington who are seeking an experienced and highly organised Senior Biology Technician to join our thriving Science Department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting outstanding teaching and learning within Biology while contributing to a culture of academic excellence, curiosity, and scientific enquiry.

Working closely with teaching staff, you will lead the provision of technical support across Biology lessons, practical activities, and enrichment opportunities. You will ensure laboratories, resources, and specialist equipment are maintained to the highest standard, enabling students to engage confidently in practical scientific investigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation, organisation, and maintenance of resources for Biology lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
  • Support the delivery of practical work, ensuring experiments are set up efficiently and safely.
  • Support and manage two other science technicians in the team.
  • Maintain laboratories, preparation areas, equipment, and biological specimens to a high standard.
  • Manage stock control, purchasing, and budget monitoring for Biology resources.
  • Senior Technician to look after and maintain the feeding of school pets - including a Snake and Geko
  • Ensure compliance with CLEAPSS guidance, health and safety regulations, and departmental procedures.
  • Provide technical advice and support to teaching staff when planning practical activities.
  • Assist with the maintenance and care of living organisms used to support teaching and learning within the department.
  • Support science enrichment activities, clubs, trips, and wider departmental events where required.
  • Line manage and support other technicians as appropriate, contributing to the smooth running of the department.
