Sonic Healthcare UK encompasses the two main entities in the UK, The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) and Health Services Laboratories (HSL). Due to the nature of work that Sonic Healthcare UK undertakes, our clients require that Employees filling certain roles, need, as part of their on-boarding to complete a DBS Check. This role falls in to the category of requiring a DBS check (standard)
We have a combined Immunology/Virology & Enterics service offered within our Blood Sciences department. The laboratory is clinically led and UKAS accredited, offering a range of specialist techniques, both automated and manual, including testing samples on Phadia 250 & 2500, Vidas3, Agility, Bioplex 2000, Diasorin XL, Gemini, AIX1000, Agility and Helios analysers. We are looking for an experienced Senior Biomedical Scientist to join our dedicated and friendly Immunology team. The selected Senior BMS will be required to work in all sections, including weekends, and have extensive experience reading Hep 2, LKS, ANCA and Organ Specific Slides, running of immunoblots assays, Processing samples in Allergy and autoimmune sections. They must also have experience to review SOP, managing incidents, completing audits and prepare the department for ongoing UKAS inspections, among other duties.
The ideal candidate will have an MSc and have completed their training in immunology, as well as a minimum 3 years working experience, post HCPC registration.
They should be a competent user of the Phadia instruments and experienced reader of IFA Slides for ANA, ANCA, LKS, Crithidia, EMA and Organ specific antibodies.
Experience in staff supervision, assay verification, audits and incident management would be an added benefit. Candidates will be paid at a level appropriate to their training and experience.
The department is located in central London with state of the art UKAS accredited facilities, well equipped with the latest technologies providing a robust and efficient service to both public and private sector. The department has IBMS approval for training, where CPD is supported and actively encouraged.
