Position: Senior Bookkeeper Salary: AUD 1,800 – 2,200 per month (depending on experience and skills) Working Hours & Conditions: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Sydney Time ROLE OVERVIEW The company is looking for an experienced and highly reliable Bookkeeper to support their growing portfolio of Australian small business clients. This is a full-cycle bookkeeping role — hands-on, detail-driven, and process-focused. You will be responsible for maintaining clean, accurate, and audit-ready books across multiple client accounts, working independently within a structured remote environment. This role suits someone who is not just task-focused but genuinely quality-focused, proactive, and accountable. RESPONSIBILITIES Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for Australian small business clients across multiple industries Perform bank reconciliations on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis Process accounts payable and accounts receivable accurately and on time Support BAS preparation in line with ATO requirements (where experienced) Process payroll for clients as required (highly valued) Maintain accurate financial records across cloud-based accounting systems — Xero, MYOB, and/or QuickBooks Online Ensure all transactions are correctly coded, categorised, and reconciled Prepare and support monthly financial reporting for internal review Liaise with the internal team promptly when clarification is needed on client transactions or records Maintain clean, organised, and audit-ready books across all client files at all times Proactively flag issues, discrepancies, or delays without waiting to be chased MUST HAVE: Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on bookkeeping experience, preferably supporting Australian clients Proficiency in Xero is required Proficiency in MYOB and/or QuickBooks Online (QBO) is strongly preferred Advanced Excel and/or Google Sheets skills Strong working knowledge of bookkeeping principles, Australian GST, and general compliance requirements Experience working with Australian small business clients across varying industries High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all financial records Ability to manage multiple clients and tasks simultaneously without constant supervision Strong time management skills and a consistent track record of meeting deadlines Excellent written and verbal English communication skills PREFERRED SKILLS (nice to have) Experience with BAS preparation and an understanding of ATO reporting obligations Exposure to payroll processing under Australian payroll regulations Familiarity with cloud accounting integrations and add-on tools (e.g., Dext, Hubdoc, Receipt Bank) Experience working within an Australian accounting or bookkeeping firm servicing multiple SME clients Certificate IV in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or a related qualification (advantageous but not required)
