YOUR SKILLS:

  • Strong organization. There are many deadlines in bookkeeping: bi-weekly payroll, monthly GST, quarterly WCB and yearly deadlines etc.
  • Comfortable talking to clients, and vendors over the phone and via text to solve problems quickly (e.g. an employee is getting a raise or a visa needs to be updated).
  • Strong written communication. Most of the communication at Buildingblocks is external, and the role will require writing emails to clients, our client’s clients, vendors and sub-contractors.
  • Sound Judgement. Deciding when a problem is large enough to require contacting the client, or when we can make a judgement call.
  • Manages a task from beginning to end. Comfortable pushing a task to completion, which can require reaching out to coworkers and clients.

YOUR EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous work as a bookkeeper
  • Very comfortable with excel

Responsibilities

This is a senior position, and we would like someone who would excel at the following:

  • Anticipating deadlines and coordinating with both coworkers and clients to get the necessary information to complete tasks on time.
  • Thinking about and updating our current processes to improve the service for our clients.
  • Managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously, and seeing tasks through to completion.

This role involves daily communication with: our clients, our client’s clients, our client’s employees, vendors, and subcontractors. Communication could be via emails, phone call, or texts.
We are looking for someone who wants to be their own manager. If desired, there is room in this role to manage other bookkeepers.
