Dutchman’s Gold is a 44-year-old, family-owned Canadian company based in Hamilton/Flamborough, Ontario, specializing in unpasteurized honey, maple syrup products, beehive wellness supplements, and beeswax candles. Since 1981, Dutchman’s Gold has been dedicated to spreading beehive goodness through their high-quality products.
With two manufacturing sites, we employ 28 people from the local area in Carlilsle/Puslinch. We run a modern honey production plant in Puslinch, where we also package bee pollen. Our property in Carlisle contains a small retail store, our E-Commerce fulfillment operation and a Beeswax production facility. We also bottle maple syrup at this facility. We make about 95 SKU’s (products) and sell nationally, in the USA and internationally.
Role Description:
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Senior Bookkeeper at Dutchman’s Gold in Hamilton, ON (office is located on 8th Concession West). The bookkeeper will report to the President and be responsible for day-to-day financial tasks including all bookkeeping, preparing financial reports and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This is a fast paced role and suitable only to those who can work under pressure and learn quickly.

General Responsibilities:

  • Manage all accounting and bookkeeping tasks in Quick Books Online, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Prepare financial reports and analysis for management review on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Oversee year-end closing processes, including tax returns and audits.
  • File HST payments and reports quarterly.
  • Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and credit control.
  • Oversee accounts payable, including vendor management and payment processing.
  • Manage a part time AP clerk (clerk works 10+ hours a week)
  • Liaison with operations/purchasing/admin team on invoicing
  • Assist with treasury functions, including cash flow planning and forecasting.
  • Assist with budgeting and financial planning.
  • Implement and maintain accounting systems and procedures.
  • Optimize and improve current accounting and financial systems
  • Oversee customer and product profitability analysis.

Qualifications:

  • College degree in accounting and/or bookkeeping.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in full cycle accounting or bookkeeping.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
