Description

NXTGEN is delighted to be working with a small, family-run accountancy practice just north of Norwich to recruit a Senior Bookkeeper. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team that truly values its people, offering exceptional flexibility and a role that can be shaped around your lifestyle.
Whether you’re looking for full-time hours, part-time flexibility, term-time only, or specific working days, the team is open-minded and happy to accommodate the right person. This position has come about due to continued organic growth, and they’re now looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper who can take ownership of a varied client portfolio while mentoring junior staff and supporting the wider team.
You’ll be joining a practice that takes pride in delivering a high-quality, personal service, and you’ll benefit from one-to-one support from experienced Directors. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with clients, is confident managing their own workload, and is looking to step into a role with more responsibility, but without the pressure of a corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take full responsibility for a portfolio of local clients, managing all bookkeeping requirements
  • Prepare year-end accounts, VAT returns, and self-assessment tax returns
  • Provide clients with timely and accurate financial information
  • Support and review work prepared by junior team members
  • Liaise directly with clients to build strong, long-term relationships
  • Support the Payroll Director during busy periods
  • Handle ad hoc client queries with a proactive and solutions-focused approach

What They’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a client-facing bookkeeping or accountancy practice role
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, VAT, and basic tax
  • Confident using Excel, Xero, and Sage (Sage experience is preferred but not essential)
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload
  • A collaborative mindset with a willingness to support and guide junior staff

Salary is competitive and dependent on experience.
