We are currently seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper / Office Accountant to join our office in Maple Ridge and manage our internal day-to-day accounting functions.

POSITION SUMMARY

As the Senior Bookkeeper / Office Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the full-cycle bookkeeping and internal accounting processes of the company. You will play a key role in supporting job costing, accounts management, remittances, and financial reporting. This is a hands-on, in-office role for a self-motivated professional who understands construction accounting and is comfortable juggling multiple projects and deadlines.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience, ideally in construction or general contracting
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and job costing
  • Proficient in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and document management systems
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian tax remittances (GST, PST, WCB, source deductions)
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Must be able to work on-site full-time (no remote work)

Responsibilities
  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping (AP, AR, journal entries, bank and credit card reconciliations)
  • Maintain and track purchase orders, sub-trade invoices, and project-related expenses
  • Process and monitor progress claims, retainage/holdbacks, and receivables
  • Support job costing and ensure accurate cost allocation to projects
  • Submit GST/PST returns and WorkSafeBC remittances
  • Maintain up-to-date vendor files and ensure certificates of insurance are collected and monitored
  • Assist with payroll reporting and reconciliations (processing done by third-party)
  • Prepare monthly financial summaries, job reports, and assist in budgeting
  • Organize and submit year-end documentation to our external accountant
  • Liaise with project managers to ensure costs are accurately coded and forecasted
  • Assist with general office accounting-related tasks as needed
