This position is responsible for performing confidential research and investigations of money laundering and other financial crimes. Other duties include assisting the BSA/AML/CFT/OFAC Officer (BSA Officer) and BSA Manager to maintain aspects of day-to-day compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering Policy (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), USA PATRIOT Act, Customer Information Program (CIP) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Additional duties include the fraud investigations and reporting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Ability to work all alert types in Verafin and document results of investigation supporting the clearing of the alert. Make decisions on appropriate action to take regarding the need for further investigation and escalate alerts to case as needed and manage ownership of case lifecycle. Ability to employ effective case/alert management by utilization of analyst dashboard and tracking within Verafin to ensure alerts, cases and SARs are competed in a timely manner. Effectively communicate with team members during investigations and submit Requests for Information as needed. Propensity to accept and respond positively to effective feedback and guidance. Analyze High Risk customer account transactions to detect suspicious activity. Document the summary of investigative findings and prepare cases for review by BSA Manager, BSA Officer and CCO. SARs: Based on the findings of an investigation, analyze, and determine whether or not a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) should be filed. Prepare accurate narratives and complete Suspicious Activity Reports timely in accordance with regulatory guidelines. CTRs: Ability to review CTR’s for accuracy and completion as well as ensure CTR’s are prepared and filed in a timely manner. Ability to perform Phase I/Phase II CTR Exemption Reviews. Review current exemptions annually and recommend customers for exemption. Monitor all aspects of customer relationships and conduct customer due diligence when necessary. Provide risk rating recommendations for customer’s relationships reviewed by determining if a customer is low, moderate, or potentially high risk. Support BSA Manager, Fraud Officer and BSA Officer ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly activities are completed in a timely manner and on special projects. Ability to rapidly identify, analyze and dissect complex transactional schemes. Ability to oversee/manage high risk business types and transaction types. Participate in exams/audits by assisting in the coordination and gathering of data for federal regulators, state examiners, independent auditors, and law enforcement. Ability to create, develop and write acceptable programs for high-risk groups. Ability to analyze existing processes and procedures then recommend changes. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES BSA/AML/CFT/CIP/OFAC/Fraud Programs Assist BSA Manager and BSA Officer with case management and the preparation, approval and/or submission of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) filing as well as 314(a) and 314(b) reporting; escalate potential matches and prepare required regulatory reports. Prepare/review Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) for accuracy and submission. Prepare Designation of Exempt Person (DOEP) reports for eligibility, accuracy, and submission. Investigate possible fraudulent incidents and file required regulatory reports as applicable. Coordinate Legal process and responses. Enhance current program. Assist BSA Manager, Fraud Officer, BSA Officer, as needed. Other related duties as assigned. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS To be successful in this job, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience Bachelor's degree from four-year college/university or equivalent work experience 5 or more years banking experience and/or training preferred Strong knowledge of BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, Money Laundering Control Act, OFAC regulations, strategies and enforcement policies, familiarity with key banking rules and regulations as well as interpretations, knowledge of bank laws and operations, risk assessment process and analysis. Verafin experience preferred. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and management. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to analyze transactions to determine applicability of regulations and if regulatory reports are required.
