SENIOR BUDGET FINANCIAL APPLICATIONS ANALYST

The Senior Budget Financial Applications Analyst plays a key role within the University’s Central Budget Office, reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Budget Analytics and Long-Range Financial Planning (LRFP) Systems. This professional-level position is critical to supporting and advancing the University’s financial reporting, data analysis, and budget planning efforts.
This position is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of financial reports, as well as providing in-depth analytics, research, and end-user training. The Senior Analyst partners closely with staff in Operations, Systems, and Planning, and collaborates across the entire Finance Division and other University departments to ensure data-driven decision-making through the effective use of applications such as PeopleSoft Financials & HR, Cognos TM1, and Cognos BI.
Key responsibilities include assisting with the ongoing development and management of the University’s Cost Allocation Report, which is presented annually to the Finance & Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees, and creating both standard and ad hoc reports in support of University-wide budget functions. This role requires an ability to deliver clear, actionable insights and provide high-quality technical support and training to ensure a seamless reporting experience for users at all levels.
Full-time Equivalent Hiring Rage: $79,900 to $99,900; salary commensurate with relative experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with at least five years of related experience in financial systems, reporting, or budgeting.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, lookups, modeling).
  • Demonstrated experience with reporting/query tools is required; knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials, Cognos TM1, and Cognos BI is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to learn and implement new technologies quickly and effectively.
  • Solid understanding of budgeting and accounting principles, including experience supporting Annual Budget Development, 5-Year Long-Range Planning, and cost allocation processes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with a strong customer service orientation, including the ability to provide end-user training and support, and troubleshoot technical/reporting issues.
