QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 4 years’ experience within the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry or academic medical center within the site budget space or relevant experience
  • Proficiency in project management and either financial analyst and/or site budget development and negotiation and execution across Phase I-IV clinical trials
  • Understanding of industry fair market value
  • Excellent negotiation skills, conflict resolution, decision making skills, communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize needs and handle a high volume of tasks within a given timeframe.

Responsibilities

The Sr Budget Specialist, Clinical Financial Operations supports the ongoing process improvements and implementation of best practices to optimize the management (i.e., operational consistency, compliance, quality, and efficiency) of the process.
The Sr Budget Specialist, Clinical Financial Operations also provides study level support from the trial planning stage, as well as throughout the lifecycle of a clinical trial, providing planning, budget strategy, resolution of budget issues and maintaining oversight of Biogen’s Strategic Partners & Legacy CROs to ensure compliant and timely site execution of site contracts.

What you’ll Do :

  • provide global investigator grant and financial appendix build, negotiation, and escalation support for Phase I – IV clinical trials and scientific research collaborations.
  • collaborate both within the Global Clinical Operations group as well as with external stakeholders to ensure optimization of the site contract financial operations process
  • support the development and maintenance of all processes and guidelines along with CRO relationship management with a specific focus on investigator grant activities.
  • oversee and taking direct responsibility for the build, development, and approval of global investigative site budgets, as required
  • influence the financial operations process, addressing compliance gaps, and identifying areas for continuous process improvements.
  • oversee and manage issues and risks for individual studies by addressing budget challenges and evaluating and resolving investigative site budget escalations
