Description
Overview This is a provisional appointment. Under general supervision, responsible for the care and cleanliness of City buildings and grounds. The City of Boston Property Management Department's (PMD) mission is to manage, maintain, repair, and provide security for the City's municipal buildings, including City Hall and Faneuil Hall; to preserve the useful life of City facilities and reduce operating costs through effective preventative maintenance measures. Responsibilities Supervises junior building custodians, custodial workers, or others engaged in cleaning work in a public building. Performs a variety of ordinary maintenance and repair tasks of a semiskilled nature to buildings and grounds, cleans a variety of surfaces, moves furniture, shovels snow, cuts grass and shrubs, removes trash and recycling, and delivers supplies. Operates power equipment, including snow blowers, lawnmowers, floor buffers, and snow plows, that do not require a commercial driver’s license. Performs related work as required. Minimum Entrance Qualifications Three (3) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, related experience necessary. Good knowledge of the methods and equipment used in cleaning buildings and grounds. General knowledge of building maintenance and repair requirements. Ability to instruct and supervise employees in such activities and enforce City and Department policies. Ability to prepare simple records and reports. Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job. Must have and maintain a MA Driver's License. CORI check required. Hoisting License preferred. If no Hoisting License upon hire, must obtain a valid MA Hoisting License within six (6) months of the date of hire.
