ABOUT THE ROLE

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development are looking for a Senior Business Advisor to join the team in an ongoing capacity.
As a Senior Business Advisor, you’ll deliver high-level financial and business advisory services across the business. From internal budgeting and forecasting to complex capital reporting and business case development - your expertise will be critical in driving informed, strategic decisions. You’ll take the lead in preparing and presenting key financial reports, chair weekly business meetings, and support senior leadership with analysis, advice, and forward-looking financial strategies. You’ll also play a hands-on role in managing funding spreadsheets, reconciliations, restricted fund balances, and NSW Treasury budget submissions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and present monthly End-of-Month reports for Deputy Secretaries and Executive Directors
• Lead weekly financial meetings with business units you support
• Manage the reporting of budgets and forecasts, including phasing and team allocations
• Maintain funds and reconciliation spreadsheets, ensuring accurate and timely bank transfers
• Draft Final Budget Proposals and Internal Budget Transfers for submission to Treasury and the CFO
• Deliver clear, actionable financial dashboards and performance reports
• Offer strategic, data-driven business advice to leadership
• Analyse labour, capital and financial performance metrics
• Drive the development of business cases and risk/savings initiatives
• Identify opportunities for improved internal processes and controls
• Create clear, concise briefing notes and policies for high-level stakeholders
