We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Business Development Manager to join our Business Development, Marketing, Events and Communications (BDMEC) team in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, or Newcastle. The role will support our market-leading Workplace practice group. About the team and the role Our Workplace Practice Group is highly regarded and respected for being the safe pair of hands organisations need to resolve workplace issues as quickly and seamlessly as possible. This is a newly created position and will be a key senior member of the BDMEC team. The role will be accountable for building comprehensive and meaningful business development strategies, developing plans for strategic and key practice group clients, managing and supporting workflows around clients through events, thought leadership opportunities, data management, tenders and capability statements, and helping to build upon the established brand for the two service lines but also for individual partners through social media profiling support, extending networks and coming up with new and innovative ways to support clients. Key responsibilities include: Lead the Workplace BDM team, ensuring timely execution of key priorities to deliver on the Workplace practice group strategic plan. Devise and deliver strategic business development elements of the practice group, supporting significant tenders and being a trusted adviser to the senior partners within the practice group including around delivery of new and innovative approaches to client and prospective client opportunities. Account management leadership around key clients, ensuring robust strategies to grow and diversify these accounts. Manage business development and lead generation opportunities and key client relationships combined with leading on projects and panel re-appointment activities. Team management responsibilities include day-to-day management of one team member and will include ensuring outstanding internal customer service, supporting workload prioritisation, and development and coaching. This hands-on role requires excellent problem solving and decision-making skills, written and verbal communication, financial literacy and numeracy as well as outstanding project management skills. The role will be ideally placed to challenge the partners to think laterally in a highly competitive and changing areas of practice and contribute new ideas and thinking to assist them identify new revenue streams and build upon the teams already strong brand in the marketplace. About you The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following: Extensive experience in law firm business development roles with prior people management experience is critical. Strong knowledge of the legal industry and corporate in-house team culture and challenges. Understanding of employment and work health & safety law is essential. Ability to engage partners with non-traditional strategies for growing the practice revenue. Superior written and verbal communication skills with demonstrable experience in delivering clear, successful, and impactful tender responses. Key client account management program development and implementation experience. A proven track record of strategy development and implementation, delivering proactive brand building strategies, and delivering major projects.
