JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Indirect Senior Buyer (m/w/d) will be responsible for sourcing indirect materials and services, Cap Ex investment and materials incorporated into the manufacture of Automotive products & Industrial Dampers.
The position holder will be required to work autonomously and will be located at AAM’s manufacturing facility in Halifax, England reporting to EU Procurement.
As part of a Global Procurement team this position will involve presenting EU initiatives to AAM’s Executives both locally, regionally, and globally.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Source goods, materials, services and Capex according to AAM procurement policies and procedures
  • Drive cost reduction and saving initiatives in the production sites using CIP, VA/VE and Market Basket methodologies
  • Ensure suppliers meet cost and timing targets throughout the sourcing process
  • Review and process incoming requisitions/POs and update POs with changes
  • Liaise with suppliers and business partners to resolve any Procurement discrepancies
  • Support the RFQ process to include the evaluation of offers and awarding of contracts
  • Responsible for Procurement daily business, providing support to Key Stakeholders.
  • Perform regular compliance checks to monitor pricing, delivery and important metrics outlined in supplier contracts
  • Monitor compliance with audit criteria as defined by business requirements
  • Implement contract and PO lifecycle management activities, eg reporting of expiring and aged POs and contracts, execution of contract and PO – administration, clean up, closure etc.
  • Support Procurement initiatives locally, regionally and globally.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION

  • Successfully completed Bachelors degree in Business Administration (or equivalent) or at least 5 years professional work experience in a dynamic Indirect Procurement Department, preferably in a high volume automotive manufacturing organization
  • Technical understanding of manufacturing processes preferable
  • Confident working style, strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Resilience, solution-orientation, team spirit, open-mindedness, positive mindset, flexibility
  • Willingness to take on responsibility, proactive attitude
  • Willingness to travel for business as required
  • Very good PC skills, including Oracle and MS-Office user knowledge
