PROFILE SUMMARY:

As a Senior Buyer, you will lead strategic sourcing initiatives to ensure optimal supply chain performance, cost efficiency, and supplier reliability. This role demands strong analytical, negotiation, and relationship management skills to support business growth and operational excellence. The Senior Buyer is responsible for purchasing direct and indirect materials.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Ensure uninterrupted supply of goods and materials; proactively communicate risks to operations.
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance through regular reviews and improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct purchasing activities including order preparation, expediting, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Source goods at optimal pricing and terms, balancing quality, quantity, and specifications.
  • Analyze MRP data to support inventory and delivery management.
  • Identify cost drivers, negotiate pricing, discounts, and logistics to maximize value.
  • Forecast demand using sales data and economic indicators to optimize inventory levels. Collaborate with sales to align sourcing with customer needs and market trends.
  • Develop and implement cost-effective sourcing strategies to accelerate speed to market.
  • Lead new supplier development and manage RFQ processes, vendor communications, and commercial negotiations.
  • Conduct competitive pricing analysis and explore alternative sourcing opportunities.
  • Support product changes and new product development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards (BRC, HACCP, GMP, etc.).
  • Maintain ethical procurement practices and promote health and safety standards.
  • Understand, apply and actively participate in maintaining product quality and food safety program practices including BRC, HACCP, QA / QC, GMP, Sanitation and good hygiene practices.
  • Understand, apply and actively participate in maintaining the Health and Safety program.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS/BA in Supply Chain or related field; 5–8 years of experience in manufacturing procurement.
  • Extensive purchasing experience with strong vendor and material management knowledge.
  • Proficient in MRP monitoring and factory purchasing systems (Excel, SAP S4/HANA, SAP IBP, Sharepoint).
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice and pricing issues.
  • Resolve supplier order and quality issues promptly.
  • Coordinate with production and material handlers to prevent packaging shortages and downtime.
  • Communicate professionally with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Respond to urgent customer requests and production needs on short notice.
  • Manage several parallel conversations with plant supervisors and team leaders.
  • Familiarity with production floor operations; foodservice industry experience is an asset.
  • Occasionally lift up to 35 lbs as required.
