Join our Power T&D team as a Senior Buyer on the Lower Thames Crossing project and you’ll be part of our legacy!
What you’ll be doing
The role will be primarily accountable for the management of the end-to-end procurement activities for the sourcing of subcontracts, materials, plant and equipment for the Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) project, but may also be required to support on other contracts in the Business Unit as required.

Activities will include:

  • Compiling procurement strategies.
  • Preparation of RFQ’s / ITT’s.
  • Management and evaluation of returns, and making sourcing recommendations to award contracts.
  • Manage specific supply chains within the Contract to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement to support Contract and Business Unit key objectives.
  • Working closely with the Sustainability function and the project Delivery Lead you will develop a new robust supply chain capacity and expertise, develop relationships with new suppliers and embed collaborative working both with the customer and the supply chain, aligning with the ethos of LTC’s delivery strategy.
  • There will be a focus on fulfilling the objective of engaging with the local Small Medium Enterprise’s (SME’s) to deliver works that offer the best monetary and social value and promotes a single culture.

Who we’re looking for

The following skills and experience are required:

  • Previous project experience within a Utilities or Construction related environment, working with both materials suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Possess excellent analytical and communication skills with a proven track record in negotiation
  • Be a team player with key leadership skills and proven stakeholder management
  • Adopt an appropriate style of people management that will deliver objectives while considering the skills, personalities and needs of employees.
  • Willingness to travel the UK for supplier visits and project/team meetings
  • Relevant business degree, MCIPS (or studying towards) or equivalent experience is desired
