Through strong partnerships with leading humanitarian organizations, NGOs, and Ministries of Health, we ensure our products reach those who need them most—even in the midst of the most complex and challenging humanitarian emergencies.   JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Buyer Planner drives continuity of supply for raw materials and packaging while optimizing cost, supplier performance, and planning alignment. This role integrates procurement execution, supply planning coordination, and cost analytics to ensure material availability for production while maintaining strong financial discipline. The ideal candidate is a high-performing procurement professional who can lead sourcing initiatives, influence cross-functional decision-making, and step into leadership responsibilities within a dynamic food manufacturing environment. This role directly supports Edesia’s mission by ensuring uninterrupted production of life-saving nutritional products. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Procurement Operations * Execute sourcing and purchasing activities for ingredients, raw materials, and packaging * Issue purchase orders and manage supplier confirmations to ensure timely deliveries * Maintain proactive supplier communication and track delivery performance * Lead negotiations of supplier agreements and pricing adjustments * Maintain procurement documentation and supplier records within ERP systems Supply Planning Integration * Collaborate with Supply Chain Planning to align procurement activities with production schedules * Translate production plans into material procurement requirements * Monitor inventory levels and maintain appropriate stock coverage * Identify supply risks early and implement mitigation strategies * Support strategic stock positioning initiatives, including pre-positioned warehouse programs   Cost Management & Procurement Analytics * Lead cost containment initiatives across key raw material and packaging categories * Track procurement spending, price variances, and supplier cost movements * Develop and maintain dashboards for pricing trends, variance analysis, and savings tracking * Support budgeting and forecasting through procurement analytics * Monitor commodity markets and analyze price trends * Provide analytical insights to support contracting and hedging decisions   Supplier Performance & Risk Management * Monitor supplier reliability, pricing adherence, and service levels * Lead supplier diversification and qualification initiatives * Support supplier risk assessments and contingency planning   Leadership Development * Demonstrate readiness to step into Procurement Manager responsibilities when required * Lead cross-functional initiatives and mentor junior team members * Drive continuous improvement across procurement and supply planning processes   Sustainability & Responsible Sourcing * Integrate sustainability and responsible sourcing criteria into supplier selection and procurement decisions * Promote ethical and environmentally responsible sourcing practices * Evaluate suppliers based on environmental and social responsibility standards * Align procurement practices with organizational sustainability goals QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Procurement, Operations, Business, or related field. * 5–8 years of experience in procurement, supply planning, or sourcing within food manufacturing or related industries. * Strong analytical skills with experience in procurement analytics and cost tracking. * Experience working with ERP procurement systems.   PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES: * Experience sourcing food ingredients, agricultural commodities, or packaging materials * Understanding of supply planning and S&OP processes * Knowledge of commodity markets (e.g., dairy, peanuts, soy, sugar) * Strong strategic sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management skills * Financial and analytical acumen, including cost analysis and reporting * Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is primarily performed in an office and manufacturing environment, with occasional exposure to production areas. * May require extended periods of sitting, computer use, and participation in cross-functional meetings. * Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. * Domestic travel required up to ~10–20% to support supplier visits, audits, and internal coordination across facilities. * Occasional international travel may be required to support global sourcing initiatives, supplier development, and risk management activities.
