Position Title: Camp Counsellor, Watersports Reports To: Supervisor, Camp Programs I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities The Camp Counsellor, Watersports will assist with the planning and facilitation of all watersports (water ski, wakeboard, wake surf, tubing) programming, with a focus on providing a safe guest experience.  II. Essential Functions The position entails, but is not limited to the following general responsibilities: * Energetically and inclusively facilitate and support watersports programming, as assigned, and adapt programs so that they are accessible for all participants. * Ensure guest safety by adhering to CNIB Lake Joe Waterfront procedures, and the standards of the Water Ski and Wakeboard Ontario (WSWO), Ontario Camping Association (OCA) and Public Health.   * Energetically and inclusively facilitate and support waterfront and non-waterfront programming, as assigned, and adapt programs so that they are accessible for all participants.   * Assist guests by taking an active role in all dining room duties, including serving meals, meal set up and clean up.   * Provide support, guidance and leadership to volunteers, guests, and visitors.  * Set up the program area and ensure that all required equipment and materials are available. Clean up the program after the program is completed. Report any low materials or issues with equipment to the appropriate Section Head.  * Fill out the daily opening and closing logs for the watersports and vessel safety checks and ensure that all safety equipment is present and in working order.  * On a rotational basis, be part of the Emergency Response Team, which includes being on call, present on site and available to respond to emergencies.  * Promote and encourage participation in programs through endorsement of activities to guests.  * Maintain documentation of any accidents or incidents and provide this documentation to the appropriate leadership member.   III. Qualifications Knowledge and Skill Requirements * Experience participating in and/or coaching watersports (water ski, wakeboard, wake surf) an asset. * Current swimming certification an asset (Bronze Medallion and above).    * Strong interpersonal skills including patience and communication.   * Experience and knowledge of teambuilding, initiative tasks and leadership skill programming.   * Willingness to be cross-discipline trained on facilitating active living/adventure programs.   * Current (within 6 months of start date) Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check.    * Current Standard First Aid and CPR “C”.    * Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) an asset. * National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Water Ski and Wakeboard Foundations certification, or willingness to complete an asset. * Ability to work flexible hours in a changing and busy environment and work outside for extended period of time.     Experience and Education * Experience in camp or other recreation programs. * PCO (Pleasure Craft Operator) card with experience operating a wake boat and/or powerboat .   Work Environment * Outdoor work required in this position. Working outdoors may include exposure to weather, sun and heat exposure. May require moderate levels of physical exertion.  * Respects the importance of confidential information while effectively functioning as a team member or working independently.    * This position may require the ability to work occasional overtime/flex time.  * Ability to work flexible hours in a dynamic and busy environment, with frequent interruptions. * Accommodations available at CNIB Lake Joe during operational season and be willing to share accommodations with other staff member.
