Description

In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the post holder of this role to be female, as the role requires the personal care of residents who are all female.
Hours: Minimum of 22.5 hours per week (contract is for x2 days per week/ 11.25 hours per shift). Overtime is available if and when needed.
Rate of Pay: £14.37 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS

NVQ2 Health & Social Care, or equivalent, with a willingness to work towards NVQ3.

PERSONAL CONDUCT

  1. To act as a positive role model by ensuring that the Charity’s values are translated into practice and that all relevant legislative requirements are adhered to in order to safeguard the health, safety and wellbeing of those in our care, visitors and team members.
  2. To ensure personal compliance with the Care Home’s aims and objectives, policies and procedures and all statutory regulations required in registered care homes.
  3. To manage professional boundaries when carrying out all duties.
  4. To respect and comply with the requirements for confidentiality and Data Protection in all matters relating to the residents, staff and business of the Care Home and the Charity. Ensure that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.
  5. To comply with the agreed conditions of employment; desired standards of behaviour, uniform, general appearance, personal hygiene, hours of duty, duty rotas, time keeping etc.
  6. To offer a flexible approach the role of Senior Care Assistant taking into account the changing needs of residents, the service, and ongoing changes in regulatory requirements.
  7. Due to the unpredictable and varied nature of life in a care home, all staff are expected to work in a flexible way when tasks not specifically in their job description have to be undertaken.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. COVID-19 considerations: Appropriate PPE to be worn by all staff and care home protocols in place.
  2. The post holder must at all times carry out their responsibilities with due regard to the Charity’s Equal Opportunities Statement.
  3. The post holder must work in line with the Charity’s Safeguarding People from Abuse Policies and Whistle Blowing Policy to ensure that people are kept safe at all times.
  4. The post holder must carry out their responsibilities with due regard to the non-smoking environment of the Charity.
  5. The post holder must accept responsibility for ensuring that the policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety in the workplace are adhered to at all times.
  6. The post holder must respect the confidentiality of data stored electronically and by other means in line with the General Data Protection Regulation of 2018.
  7. To undertake any other duties, tasks or projects, as reasonably required by the Registered Care Manager, which are commensurate with the general level of this post.

Responsibilities

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE SENIOR CARE ASSISTANT ROLE

The Senior Care Assistant is part of the Care Home’s Senior Management team. They are required to professionally lead the care team during each shift, ensuring that a high standard of person-centred care is provided to the residents of the Care Home in accordance with their assessed needs.
They will ensure that a safe, effective and efficient care service is provided, which enhances the life of each individual.
The Senior Care Assistant will supervise and support the care team to create a warm, comfortable, friendly, homely environment for residents, and in accordance with the Care Quality Commission standards, the safeguarding policy.
