Osbourne Court is a friendly and modern, 58 bed family run care home in Stoke Gifford for those loving with dementia.

We currently have a vacancy for an experienced Senior Care Assistant to complement our team. We pay from £14.50/hr during weekdays and from £16.70/hr at weekends and from £29.00/hr on bank holidays. We expect all staff to work a mixture of early and late shifts and to expect to work every second weekend.

  • As senior care assistant the role is to support the Home Manager in all aspects of the home’s management, and take complete charge of the home when required.
  • To help train junior members of staff in all aspects of their work in the home, delegating tasks and roles as appropriate to support the development of staff.
  • To demonstrate leadership through example and setting the highest standards in every task using the Leadership Qualities Framework to show Front-line Leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Help to ensure that all junior and domestic staff contribute to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the home and the creation of the right atmosphere. Ensure that both floors are running effectively, carrying out regular checks.
  • Assist service users who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and toilet, be informed about all residents in the home, ensure that all information is correct and up to date.
  • Carry out medication administration, ensure that stock levels are correct. Liaise with Boots and the Pharmacist attached to GP surgery.
  • Help service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities such as incontinence; help in the use and care of aids and personal equipment, make referrals when necessary.
  • Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of care users through talking to them, taking them out, and sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations. Ensure that all areas on both floors are utilized and activity followed.
  • Oversee the keyworker’s care plan monthly responsibilities and ensure that all information is relevant and up to date. Life story books to be completed six months after admission.
  • Liaise with GP on both floors and other multi disciplinary agencies.
  • Allocate staff member to support new admissions and to complete key worker paper work.
  • Assist service users at meal times if required.
  • Answer emergency bells, the door and the telephone; greet visitors. Be proactive and available to show perspective clients and relatives around the home at any time, take the lead.
  • Read and write reports on computer held notes. Handover’s must be informative and allocation of duties must be distributed. Check diary for information and act on necessary requirements, log and sign information.
  • Take part in staff meetings and also in training activities as directed.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as may be required.
