Icknield Court care home is conveniently located close to the town centre of Princes Risborough, and is also within easy reach of High Wycombe. Our care home provides a friendly and modern living environment and offers 90 individual rooms positioned across six separate wings. With many facilities and plenty of outdoor and communal space, residents can participate in stimulating social activities and enjoy each other’s company. Personal items can be brought from home and added to rooms to provide those homely touches.
Principle tasks will include:
· Effectively lead shifts to ensure staff allocation skill mix are appropriate for homes requirements (e.g. duty allocation, breaks, leave). Ensuring the home is staffed adequately 24/7 in response to the needs of the home.
· Assist the Manager and Deputy Manager in the running of the home in an efficient and caring manner.
· Ensure all staff contribute towards the efficient running of the home, its atmosphere and that they lead by example.
· Support staff with all training and development needs. Ensuring all training programmes are implemented and monitored to a high standard.
· Fully aware of specialist support needs (e.g. diabetes, communication issues, mobility requirements, moving and handling).
· Develop person centred support plans based on risk assessment and service user preferences and undertake regular reviews of these with input from relatives, other professionals and staff colleagues.
· Update service user information in daily reports, care and health monitoring charts.
· Ability to respond to accident and incidents and evidence actions taken in line with the escalation policy.
· Assist service users with daily living tasks (e.g. personal care, mobility, nutrition and hydration and end of life care with dignity and respect) as
directed in their Support Plan.
· Provide social and emotional support to Service Users by ensuring they are included in activities of their choice and in accordance with their Support Plan.
· Ensure service users receive planned or urgent health care whenever required. Liaising with other support services e.g. District Nurses, where necessary.
· Administer medication as prescribed to service users in line with policies and procedures.
· Oversee the management of an effective system for the safe control of medication. (E.g. ordering, booking in, storage and dealing with medication errors effectively in line with policy and procedures).
· Communicate with individuals that are living, working or visiting the Care Home clearly, helpfully and respectfully.
· Participate in and arrange team meetings/staff events to ensure effective communications of business goals and objectives on a monthly basis.
· Deal with all enquiries including complaints in a calm, friendly and professional manner.
· Lead on the implementation of The Fremantle Trust’s policies and procedures, legal requirements and relevant codes of practice.
· Ensure practices are delivered in line with CQC regulations.
· Support the operation of the home by conducting the Person in Charge duties when required.
· Undertake any such duties or tasks consistent with the operational business of the Trust, the job role and hours of work as may be reasonably required.
