Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your Voice is a specialist team within Legal Aid NSW supporting children and young people in out-of-home care (OOHC). As a Senior Caseworker, you will collaborate with lawyers to provide short to medium-term casework to vulnerable young people, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. Using a socio-legal approach, you’ll help address legal and psychosocial needs, advocating for their rights and access to services and ensuring their essential needs such as; education, health, culture, and family connection are met.

THE ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE

You must:

  • Bachelor Social Work (4 years study) or Masters of Social Work or Bachelor Degree in Psychology or a related discipline with eligibility for professional registration
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • Be willing to undertake a Criminal Record Check
  • Hold a current NSW Working with Children Check
  • hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
  • Be willing to travel when required to support young people across various metro, remote and regional locations
  • Experience working with children and young people

The Family Law Division have several roles where it is a statutory obligation for staff to hold a valid Working with Children Check. You will be required to provide your Working with Children Check details prior to commencement in any role requiring the check.
