About the role Looking for an experienced & skilled Senior Category Manager who will lead the Floor Care & Environmental Care categories for Benelux while working closely with the Head of Marketing and is someone who thrives in a high paced, complex and dynamic environment. The ideal candidate has a passion for new technology & consumer products and has the skillset to implement innovative marketing & commercial strategies. The candidate will lead these categories for the entire Benelux + Nordics cluster (comprising 6 markets) to deliver and execute an integrated marketing & operations plan. This position is supported by a team of Category Manager(s)/Executive(s). Key Responsibilities & Supporting Tasks: As our Senior Category Manager, you will: 1. Category management and development of brand communications strategy: • Develop and execute clear and compelling marketing/commercial plans (including detailed marketing calendar & trading plans) which will drive key KPIs (sales/shares/brand attributes etc.) • Develop long-term vision and commercial plans to grow the respective categories (including NPDs) • Develop overall messaging & communications strategy for the category, in line with Dyson brand proposition/voice that makes us different to our competitors • Build effective relationship with PR and Comms team to drive the agenda for (but not limited to) experiential marketing and earned media. • Work with the team to develop communications plans that span all key media platforms - from TV, press, OOH, digital, social, down to boxes and tickets. Strive to experiment & learn with new ideas/approach • Work with claims & performance team to define performance claims that align consumer insight, develop compelling category proposition, whist meeting market industry standards • Conceptualize & drive initiatives around advocacy, thought-leadership & ‘first-in-category’ activities as well as a strong accreditations roadmap 2. Market strategy & key projects; Pro-actively managing product pipelines & changes in sales strategy: • Work with insight, collect customer knowledge, competitor understanding & market projections. Using these insights to build the overall long term category strategy and vision. Act as the business champion for the category, to ensure everyone is clear on the jobs to be done. • Manage monthly/quarterly Category Reviews with the Executive team, to ensure key risks and opportunities for the category are highlighted with relevant solutions for support and decision from the business to be made. • Partner with the sales team to deliver a joint sales and marketing plan to maximize Dyson’s business in all accounts and an aligned channel strategy. • Work with the OE lead to deliver excellent Owner Experience by delivering the strategy for the key messaging and conversations delivered via owned channels. • Work with Communications/PR team to embed earned media into our comms plans as an integrated part of the mix. • Work with Insights Manager/team to develop strategies to maximize our sales potential in given target markets and ensure we are fighting against the competition activity. Plan innovative ways to reach these audiences to ensure that Dyson ‘pioneer’ these categories within the market 3. Ownership of the category P&L, ensuring right budget shape and spend allocation across paid, owned and earned media, retail activation and non-working investment that meets strategic and business needs: • Own full category P&L - Evaluate to ensure shrewd investment and driving proactive efficiencies for the business. • Partnering with x-functional business partners and finance to ensure that all spend levers within the category Cost of Acquisition is sufficient, the right shape and driving towards the right objectives. • Partnering with the media team to ensure that the media agencies clearly translate the category vision into media strategy and plans. Challenging efficiency and effectiveness, to ensure spend is driving to the right objective. 4. Product ranging & forecasting: • Lead the overall strategic ranging of the category in the market ensuring the most efficient range to drive market ambition. • Responsible for building the ranging principles, hierarchy and model for the categories. • Partner with the e-commerce and retail leads to build strong ranging proposals that support strong channel and retailer JBPs • Empower & encourage team to keep close track of forecasting and stock levels to ensure strategic launches and business as usual is completely de-risked. 5. Build, develop and promote an effective team • Ensure that leveraging consumer insights is a key behaviour within the team. • Inspire, lead, mentor and motivate team through regular feedback, 121s, objectives and career planning. • Manage processes to ensure that the team is as effective as possible to meet business goals. • Review insight and data that is available to ensure high team engagement. • Develop talent and succession/team expansion plans as required. 6. Fulfil other duties as required • Pick up new activities/initiatives that fall broadly in the purpose of the role and step-up/pitch-in for X-cat projects • Fix things that you can see need fixing; Identify problems and find solutions. • Promote and demonstrate Dyson behaviours. About you To succeed in the role, we expect you to have: At least six years of solid marketing/category management experience/background with demonstrated experience in launching new products into the market. At least two years of having led a category independently along with full P&L ownership and delivery Solid experience in brand management, including simultaneous management of product marketing and communications with measurable results. Experience of having handled complex commercial / trading plans in partnership with multi-market / multi-channel cross-functional teams Past experience in floor care / home appliances / FMCD Past media / e-com experience is a plus Proven track record of challenging the status quo and delivering innovative solutions. Effective communicator with strong presentation skills and the ability to influence others. Passion for marketing and deep knowledge of market trends. Past experience of having handled a team is a must. Marketing-based analytical skills, including financial and return on investment analysis. Ability to plan and deliver strategic initiatives, with a high willingness to learn and collaborate. Articulate and confident individual, capable of communicating plans effectively.
