JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to an Engineer and working within the group of Engineers and Technicians, you would be mentored to develop your career and to plan and perform cathodic protection field duties in support of assigned projects – duties include project preparation, field work, evaluation and installation of cathodic protection systems designed to inhibit corrosion on various structures. You will have the qualification of a Senior CP Technician to ISO 15257 Level III or equivalent. You will be required to travel and work on sites both in the UK and Overseas. You will be expected to work alone and unsupervised at times.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, undertake and monitor project activities, being part of and at times leading a team working in the field on a variety of tasks. Initially, these will be UK based projects but in time will include overseas projects.
  • Learning aspects of engineering requirements for survey and installation processes
  • Prepare work packs, RAMS, equipment and material packs.
  • Produce and maintain manufacturing data books.
  • Shadow Engineers to understand the day-to-day roles and responsibilities of a CP engineer
  • Be trained in less complex engineering calculations and designs for both SACP and ICCP systems.
  • Learn how to use the systems and procedures in place to support this activity.
  • Prepare engineering survey and maintenance reports; consult field staff regarding revisions in analysis or modifications of system designs.
  • Perform and when required, supervise others in field operations required to determine condition of soil, water, underground or submerged structures.
  • Collate and prepare field data and assist in developing complete Cathodic Protection system designs of increasing complexity.
  • Participate on site, in pre and post installation and survey communications with clients, work on site as required to ensure progress is maintained or delays rectified and prepare from field data client reports for checking and approval by others.
  • Coordinate personnel, materials and equipment for project work and gain experience in the responsibilities required for project scheduling, resourcing including support staff, execution in line with expected timelines and reporting within given timescales.
  • Coordination with internal production, quality control, quality assurance, production and shipping departments
  • Liaison with suppliers, subcontractors and other vendors
  • Perform direct client communications.
  • Perform internal audits of field work activities.
  • Working alongside dedicated engineers to deliver technical solutions.
  • Coordinating documentation including, issue and receipt of documents from Clients and engineers, updating document management systems, packing lists and shipping invoices
  • Be mentored by and provide progress reports to Engineers
  • Mentoring and training CP Technicians and take a proactive approach to a role in the set up and undertaking of data collation.
  • Gain a detailed knowledge in the use and application of all survey equipment so as can provide guidance to CP technicians as required.
  • Training will be given as required including report writing, Excel, Word and time management, improving communication skills and project management.
