General Summary:
Velocity is seeking a CCTV and Security Engineer to join our Network Engineering team and function. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CCTV, access control, security systems, and will assist Velocity in delivering a superior customer experience. This position will be responsible for designing, programming, and integrating CCTV, access control, and security systems.
Velocity, A Managed Solutions Company, operates many diverse and vendor agnostic installations. The incumbent in this role will be responsible for quickly understanding and managing these environments, using existing documentation and independent discovery.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • 5+ years’ experience installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining CCTV and Security installs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical and electronic skills
  • Understanding of technical drawings and documentation
  • Strong technical, leadership, and communication skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead complex projects in a cross functional team environment
  • Demonstrate the ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Physically able to lift 50 pounds of equipment

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Required — Bachelor’s degree in technology or equivalent technical experience
  • Required — Experience with at least two of the following products and platforms: Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Adtran, Ruckus, Aruba, Arista, Palo Alto, and Fortinet
  • Preferred — Experience in hospitality or service provider networks
  • Preferred — Industry relevant certifications — e.g., Cisco CCNP, Ruckus RCWA, Aruba ACMP, etc.
Responsibilities
  • Design, program, and install CCTV, access control, and security systems in residential and commercial environments
  • Onsite building and installation of security and CCTV components
  • Provide training in-person and remotely to customers and end users
  • Serve as an escalation contact for technical operations teams
  • Maintain backups and documentation of managed installations
  • Perform design work that incorporates industry best practices for managed systems
  • Function as a technical lead for projects requiring security technologies
  • Assist in developing and maintaining hardware life cycle management methodologies
  • Contribute to Velocity’s technology roadmap development
  • Collaborate with architecture function to ensure that designs are in line with the needs of the current and future requirements from our customers, network platforms, and security compliance
  • Engage and manage external vendors as appropriate to enhance the team’s capabilities
  • Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
  • This position may require up to 30% travel
