Join our close-knit Chemical Management team in Unity Lab Services, where we provide integrated lab services, support, and supply management tailored to our customers’ unique needs. We’re seeking an upbeat Chemical Management Specialist to manage chemical inventory and ensure labs remain stocked, compliant, and running efficiently.

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 2-3 years of customer-service experience in a laboratory or similar environment. GMP experience is a plus!

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a safety-first approach.
  • Ability to read and understand SDS documentation and DOT labeling requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - WORK ENVIRONMENT

The role primarily involves working independently at customer sites, which may include areas with chemical-based allergens like penicillin and tetracycline. Personal protective equipment, such as lab coats, coveralls, facemasks, and steel-toe shoes, is often required. The position requires regular lifting of 30-40 lbs (up to 50 lbs occasionally) and using equipment like pushcarts and forklifts to move up to 100 lbs. Standing, walking, and manual material handling of chemical containers are frequent activities, sometimes in varied temperature environments. Overtime work may also be necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory services that can include chemical inventory scanning, chemical inventory reconciliation, stockroom management, receipt and registration of chemicals, chemical waste pickup, radioactive management tasks, controlled substance management, and area audits using client system.
  • Adhere to SOPs and work instructions for receiving chemicals, conducting audits, transferring chemicals on-site, and identifying storage conditions.
  • Potential to chair committees and host meetings that pertain to customer success.
  • Successfully address customer concerns within established resolution timeframes.
  • Engage in process improvement activities and assist with resolutions to enhance process utilization.
  • Collaborate closely with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and team members to uphold safety standards, refine workflows, and train new team members.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by management
