SUMMARY OF THE ROLE The Senior Chemist is responsible to develop, sustain process and customer friendly products under Jotun R&D process guidelines. You will be preparing, testing and evaluating raw materials to ensure product performance & specification as per Jotun's product requirements to meet the customer expectations. This position will be reporting to the Manager - Lab & Process and will be based in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. Responsibilities: Conduct and ensure all testing as per Jotun & international Standards like ISO, ASTM, AAMA and Qualicoat etc. Drive for formulation (process and cost) optimization by revising existing recipes to ensure quality improvement delivery to market. Ensure good communication between the Lab team, QC team, sales team and Technical Services & Support (TSS) to enhance internal customer satisfaction and efficiency of operation. Ensure the incoming Raw Material (RM) quality as per Group R&D process guidelines. Follow Jotun standards and ISO procedures to improve consistency and traceability within the factory. Give technical support and cooperate closely with maintenance. Implement and supervise calibration procedures for laboratory instruments per ISO & Jotun HSEQ element requirements & guidelines. Improve the competence of chemists by reducing number of colour matching cycles per sample to drive the efficiency of routine operation as per lead time targets. Make formulations available for production with defined QC/process specification as per customer requirements and with optimized process parameters. Optimize recipes to maintain competitiveness in the local market within the framework set by regional and global R&D. Organize and ensure efficient optimized planning together with laboratory chemists & Lab operators. Preparing monthly lab reports as per the Lab KPI's. Review RMs with Purchasing, cooperate on old RMs use up, and new, cost-efficient RMs implementation. Update and change formulations as required by Group R&D When needed, analyze quality control of product and raw material to ensure achieving consistency of finished product delivery to customers.
