JOB DESCRIPTION

Join Danfoss in shaping the future of sustainable data centers. We’re looking for a Senior Chief Engineer Infrastructure Data center (m/f/d) to lead the design of physical infrastructure—from energy systems and cooling technologies to thermal management and hardware layout. You’ll drive innovation, efficiency, and scalability across new builds and retrofits.
If you are a seasoned professional with a solid background in system architecture, this role is for you! We value both deep expertise, and a broad skill set within our team. This position demands a strong foundation in Data Center planning and execution, including the ability to select, calculate, and optimize the whole data center, as well as to build robust system infrastructures.

BACKGROUND & SKILLS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Plant Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with experience in Thermal Engineering, Energy Engineering or related field is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in system architecture is required, particularly in fields such as data center thermal management, or related areas.
  • Expertise in working with both air and liquid-cooled systems is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD systems like such as Revit, AutoCAD, and a solidW. understanding of simulation environments is essential.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and challenges in data center thermal management. Experience in working with large-scale data centers would be a plus.
  • Expertise in System design: Strong proficiency in designing and optimizing data center systems, with a focus on thermal management for both air- and liquid-cooled environments.
  • Customer-Centric Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate customer needs into clear technical specifications and system designs.
  • Innovation & Intellectual Property: A creative mindset with the ability to develop novel solutions and contribute to patentable innovations.
  • Fluent in Englis is a must.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design or retrofit of complete data center infrastructures, defining high-level system architecture from the transformer to the server. This includes reimagining energy supply systems, thermal management, and platform integration for both new builds and existing facility upgrades.
  • Design and define complete thermal system architectures for both air- and liquid-cooled data centers.
  • Develop full system P&IDs, including temperature levels, flow rates, and piping dimensions.
  • Specify system-level requirements for simulation and performance modeling teams.
  • Create clear, detailed system diagrams and technical illustrations to communicate infrastructure concepts.
  • Support internal and external stakeholders with visual documentation of proposed solutions.
  • Act as a technical liaison between customers and internal product teams.
  • Understand customer needs and translate them into tailored, high-efficiency system designs.
  • Drive innovation in thermal and energy system design with a focus on sustainability and performance.
  • Collaborate with the IP team to document and protect novel solutions through patents.
