JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Childcare Practitioner to join our team and provide exceptional care for children in our Out of School Care Club. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating a safe and nurturing environment for young children.
During term time you will normally work from 7.45 am to 9 am and 1 pm to 6 pm with any additional hours by mutual consent
During In-service days you will normally work from 7.45 am to 12.45 pm or 12.45 am to 5.45 pm with any additional hours by mutual consent
During school holidays you will normally work from 7.45 am to 12.45 pm or 12.45 pm to 5.45 pm and on Trip days from 7.45 am to 5.45 pm with any additional hours by mutual consent

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the Care Inspectorate National Standards
  • Comply with SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council) Code of Practice and registration requirements, including informing them of any change in your personal circumstances.
  • Assist with safe, creative and appropriate play activities
  • Administer First Aid as required (if suitably qualified)
  • Adhere to staff rules, policies and procedures
  • Undertake delegated administrative duties
  • Deputise for the Manager during any periods of absence
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in guiding children’s behaviour
  • Manage daily routines and schedules effectively
  • Attend training courses as deemed necessary by the Management Committee. Child Protection, First Aid and Elementary Food Hygiene courses must be undertaken and renewed every three years
  • Intimate Care training must be undertaken to meet the needs of any child with additional support needs
  • Complete Care Inspectorate annual returns and evaluations
  • Supervise staff to ensure compliance with staff rules, policies and procedures
  • Liaise with parents, Management Committee, Head Teachers and all other relevant agencies
  • Attend training Courses and meetings as deemed necessary by the Management Committee
  • Assist children with additional support needs, undertaking the relevant training as required
  • Undertake specific training relating to legislative requirements
  • Attend all meetings as specified by the Management Committee
