Description
Primary Purpose of the Role The Senior Civil Designer is responsible for delivering high‑quality engineering detailing services that support the successful execution of consultancy projects. The role contributes to minimizing project risks and maximizing commercial outcomes by producing accurate and compliant civil design documentation. This includes the preparation of conceptual and detailed drawings, models, and schedules in accordance with applicable health and safety requirements, project specifications, design standards, and contractual obligations for international projects. The position supports Project Managers and Team Leads by providing civil CAD/BIM design services for various Energy projects across Water, Power & Dams, Hydropower, Mining and Power Transmission sectors. The role ensures coaching, mentoring and assisting junior team members in their career development. It also ensures project objectives related to budget, schedule, technical integrity, and quality are met, in line with both client expectations and STANTEC standards.   Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities * Review engineering inputs, clearly understand the project scope, and plan design activities without altering the approved design intent. * Prepare plant and site layouts, general arrangement drawings, and associated documentation that are accurate, clear, constructible, and cost‑effective. * Develop and visualize 3D models using tools such as Autodesk Civil 3D, Revit, and MicroStation. * Ensure designs comply with project specifications, are safe to construct, and meet environmental and sustainability requirements. * Apply standard practices and details wherever possible, adapting proven solutions from previous projects to current requirements. * Adhere to established quality procedures, ensuring all drawings, models, and records are properly prepared, reviewed, and maintained throughout the project lifecycle. * Coordinate effectively with BIM/CAD Leads, multidisciplinary designers, and engineers to achieve integrated project delivery. * Ensure accurate coordination of drawings with internal and external stakeholders to avoid clashes, discrepancies, or rework. * Maintain project documentation, including drawings, schedules, and design records, in line with company and client requirements. * Identify and promptly report any design or detailing issues to the appropriate project personnel. * Comply with all health and safety standards in design and detailing activities. * Consider environmental impacts during design development and actively support sustainable design practices.
