Description

R2O Consulting LLC is a Cleveland-based engineering firm whose diverse experience includes hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, environmental compliance, wastewater, drinking water, and stormwater projects. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead and support infrastructure projects focused on drainage systems, stormwater and sewage collection, and water distribution systems. The ideal candidate will bring a deep technical understanding of underground utilities and a proven track record in design, analysis, permitting, and construction oversight. This position offers the opportunity to work on a range of public projects, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to R2O’s growing civil design practice.
The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience and a strong background in infrastructure design and stormwater management, with a proclivity for confidently and collaboratively leading teams through complex projects from concept to completion. This is a full-time (40 hours/wk), benefits-eligible position; starting salary range is $110,000-$130,000/year.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field
  • Professional Engineering license (Ohio or Pennsylvania)
  • Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) certification
  • Strong preference for DOT project experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in planning and/or design in SUE, with a focus on drinking water, drainage, wastewater collection, and stormwater systems for municipal and utility clients, preparing reports, conducting engineering analyses and calculations, overseeing the preparation of engineering design documents
  • Strong organizational, technical, communication, and leadership skills
  • Project Management coursework/certification a plus
  • Proven work history, strong work ethic, mentoring experience, and team-player attitude
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience supporting business development activities is preferred
  • Additional licenses, certifications or training in Civil/Environmental Engineering fields a plus
  • Demonstrated experience using various engineering software tools, such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models, BlueBeam

Responsibilities

Responsibilities and tasks will vary among projects; this position will likely be called to:

  • Lead and oversee the design and analysis of drainage systems, stormwater management facilities, sanitary sewer networks, and potable water distribution systems.
  • Prepare construction drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates for Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) projects.
  • Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, municipalities, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with codes, permits, and project requirements.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections during construction to ensure adherence to design specifications and address field issues.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and CAD designers.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Review scope documents and developing work breakdown structures, task budgets, and resource needs.
  • Interact professionally with clients in meetings, workshops and professional organizations.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals and consulting fee estimates.
  • Participate in sales presentations.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and findings to clients.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of both small and large teams to successfully deliver quality projects on schedule and within budget.
