Description Spotts, Stevens and McCoy (SSM) is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Civil Engineering Division. This position offers the opportunity to lead projects from concept through construction, guide technical staff, and maintain trusted client relationships. You’ll work on a balance of municipal infrastructure and land development projects, contributing your expertise to designs that make a lasting difference in the communities we serve. Primary Responsibilities Preparing and reviewing stormwater management designs, calculations, and reports. Designing storm drainage, roadway, and site improvements. Overseeing DEP permit applications, including NPDES, joint, and general permits. Performing floodplain analyses. Developing site grading, erosion and sediment control plans, and cost estimates. Preparing technical specifications, bid packages, and construction-phase documentation. Performing technical review and QA/QC of design documents and reports. Building and maintaining strong client relationships through consistent communication and reliable technical guidance. Mentoring junior staff and contributing to the ongoing development of the Civil Engineering Division. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s a plus) 10+ years of experience in civil/site design and municipal engineering. Pennsylvania Professional Engineer (PE) license (required). Strong technical background in stormwater management and hydrologic/hydraulic design; DEP permitting; and site grading, roadway, and utility design. Cost estimating, specifications, and construction-phase coordination. Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work. Collaborative mindset with a commitment to mentoring staff and maintaining trusted client relationships. This position is based out of our Reading PA office; however, there may be flexibility for a hybrid-remote work model.
