Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This role is a busy and innovative role for a highly skilled Civil / Structural Engineer to join our business and make their mark in this space.
Using your expert and extensive knowledge in design in the electrical utility industry this role is responsible for the provision of engineering expertise and leadership, as well as scoping, design, and estimation regarding civil/structural designs for internal and external Network Services clients.
This includes responsibility over the technical development and mentoring of the Civil/Structural Design team, providing safe and innovative designs that reduce construction costs and increase safety to personnel and members of the public.
With a high focus on continuous improvements and innovation, and using best practice principals in this space, this important role contributes to the successful completion of projects to meet specific target dates, and the achievement of positive business results.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Extensive working experience in the electrical utility industry, as well as experience as a technical leader, with the ability to lead and support project design teams
  • A Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical), as well as holding Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) and Registered Professional Engineer of Victoria (RPEV)
  • Extensive knowledge of principles and concepts associated with the design of foundations for electrical equipment and buildings, site grading, site drainage, oil containment, overhead line landing gantries, cable pit systems, cable basements and other associated civil/structural design.
  • Strong competency in preparing detailed design scopes, estimates and design schedules as well as the ability to prepare specifications and assist in tender evaluations.
  • Detailed knowledge of construction methods and techniques through on-the-job experience, as well as Design within AutoCAD and other digital tools to deliver solutions for complex problems or large projects
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines, with strong communication skills, the ability to effectively lead and mentor, as well as effective stakeholder management skills.
