You don’t need to tick every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

• Tertiary qualification in Civil/ Structural Engineering or similar
• Detailed understanding of project lifecycles and application of engineering principals with extensive design and construction knowledge covering performance, functionality, operation, maintenance and risks
• Extensive experience working in electricity substations engineering or other similar infrastructure industries, project delivery and/or design role
• Demonstrated ability to develop, coach, mentor, empower and support colleagues and team members to achieve common goals
• Proven capability in development of concepts and/or delivery of designs
• Proven ability to build and grow relationships and partnerships across divisions within Ausnet as well as with external suppliers, customers and regulatory bodies

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role will see you providing engineering and technical support in the delivery of transmission substations projects, with specialist knowledge on civil and structural engineering. You will work with internal stakeholders, and Design and Construction Delivery Partners.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Applying civil and structural technical engineering knowledge to ensure efficient solutions can be reached on complex design projects
• Developing scopes and specifications for design and construction.
• Reviewing and assessing brownfield and greenfield electricity substation designs, providing technical input into staging, constructability, operability, maintainability and safety in design covering:
• Civil and structural design including layouts, detail drawings and calculations
• Civil and structural studies and investigations including geotechnical, feature survey, GPR, soil contamination assessment and co-ordination for noise assessment, fire assessment, environmental assessment, etc
• Contributing to the development of scopes and estimates for Transmission substation projects ensuring cost effective and constructible business cases can be delivered
• Identifying opportunities to develop new or improved standards and to ensure the timely delivery of efficient solutions of complex technical engineering designs and standards, taking ownership of process improvement initiatives and development of new methods where necessary
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and Design Service Providers
• Lead, coach and mentor personnel within the team and share knowledge and experience
