ESTATES OFFICE PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT PLANNING SECTION Senior Clerk of Works (25260431) The appointee will be responsible for the overall quality management, site supervision of new works, alteration and addition (A&A), improvement/renovation, repair and maintenance works for on-campus and off-campus premises managed by the University. Responsibilities: Lead a team of Clerk of Works for the quality management and site supervision of the projects; Regular review and update the quality management system; Act as the site representative of the University and assist the project team to perform site supervisory duties including but not limited to examine the safety precautionary measure prior and during the construction, coordination of site works, monitoring of site progress, inspection of details, checking of setting out related to critical elements of builder’s works and/or fitting-out works, coordination of building services works and report of irregularities on site in accordance with the contract document, general specification and/or approved drawings and specifications; Perform duties during weekdays and work outside office hours during weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays when required for the projects of the University; Prepare irregularities reports, daily site reports and biweekly progress reports; Oversee the performance of contractors on site to ensure the quality of both materials and workmanship of the required standards is achieved, such as materials on site, construction sequence, workmanship, in situ testing as well as health and safety in accordance with specifications and regulations; Monitor the progress of works and coordinate with the project team, consultants and contractors to ensure objectives are achieved in terms of the timeline and quality; and Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements: A recognised degree in Building Studies/Construction or equivalent; 8 years’ relevant post-qualification experience or 2 years’ relevant experience as Clerk of Works or 5 years’ relevant experience as Assistant Clerk of Works; Met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in English Language and Chinese Language in Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) / Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or equivalent; Experience in government building projects including term contracts or institutional building projects being an advantage; Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office; Experience in basic building services works preferred; Familiar with building regulations in relation to site works and well versed in the coordination of services, construction details, and common site problems/issues; Proactive, well organised, self-disciplined, self-motivated, able to work independently and as a team under pressure with high integrity and a service-oriented mindset; Capable of working well with consultants, contractors and site management personnel; Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; and An academic qualification in Occupational Safety and Health or Construction Safety is an advantage. Less experience will be considered as Clerk of Works /Assistant Clerk of Works. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test. The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
