THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Ireland Sustainability and Climate Services team is a dedicated team with a fast-growing portfolio of projects, focusing on the cross-cutting agenda of climate change, to help embed low carbon, climate resilient outcomes into the projects we deliver. Examples of these projects may include developing climate adaptation and resilience plans; climate impact screening assessments or more detailed climate impact assessments for major infrastructure and other development types. Other project types include carbon and greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions assessment and inventories development and broader carbon and sustainability strategy development.
We are looking for a senior, ambitious individual to help drive further growth, lead complex projects and deliver technical excellence to our clients across all the market sectors in which we work.

AS A SENIOR CONSULTANT AT ARUP, YOU WILL:

  • Lead projects delivering climate change impact and risk assessment; advisory services for climate adaptation and resilience; carbon and greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions assessment and inventories development and projection.
  • Develop and implement climate change strategies.
  • Lead bids for climate and sustainability projects, and work with other Arup teams to support bidding for multidisciplinary projects.
  • Collaborate with clients and project managers to seamlessly incorporate climate adaptation measures into project implementation, encompassing work scopes, programs, responsibilities, and outcomes.
  • Provide client and sustainability advice to our clients.
  • Develop long term relationships with key stakeholders and engage in broader business development activities including speaking events, drafting articles and engagement in cross-industry working groups.
  • Support the annual plan for delivery of climate & sustainability services to the Irish market in line with Arup’s regional and global strategy.
  • Advise clients on climate and broader sustainability policy and legislation in Europe.
  • Lead project work on broader sustainability projects such as developing sustainability visions and strategies for various organisations.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.

We are looking for people with the following skills:

  • Bachelor or master’s qualification in a relevant field, such as Environmental Science (with appropriate and relevant knowledge), Carbon and/or Climate Change Management, Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Environmental Engineering, Geography.
  • 12+ years of professional experience in the built environment in climate and sustainability services with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Appropriate chartership or working towards – e.g. Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv, CEng, IEMA).

  • Working knowledge of European and Irish policy and regulatory framework for carbon and climate.
  • Experience with climate modelling and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in GIS and other relevant software is a plus.
  • Project management experience.

  • Established business development track record.
  • Highly motivated and willing to tackle new challenges.
