Orthopaedic Specialist Training Program equivalent status to UK ST8 trainee, or above. Suitable for a candidate who has obtained the FRCS (Tr & Orth) examination or equivalent and be eligible for CCST (or equivalent).
The post is intended for a surgeon who already has a specialist interest in hip & knee arthroplasty surgery. Training will involve working with 3 consultants who specialise in complex primary and revision hip & knee arthroplasty techniques, as well as having an active role in our Bone Infection Group. It is a busy clinical based with additional opportunities for research and teaching in conjunction with the Academic Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Warwick.
The principal clinical supervisors are Mr Pedro Foguet, Professor Richard King and Mr Richard Westerman; the Fellow will also be expected to join other members of the Lower Limb Arthroplasty Team in theatres.

The fellowship is offered for 12 months starting August 2026, working at both University Hospital Coventry and the Hospital of St Cross, Rugby sites.

  • Operating sessions as required, with strong revision arthroplasty focus.
  • Regular Orthopaedic outpatient clinics at UHCW and Rugby St Cross Hospitals.
  • Supervising the treatment of patients in UHCW Hospital and at Rugby St Cross Hospital.
  • Coordinating our bi-weekly Bone Infection Group and Complex Arthroplasty meetings.
  • Carrying our regular ward rounds as appropriate.
  • Participation in clinic audit within the unit.
  • Active involvement in the training and supervision of Junior Medical Staff on ward rounds, in theatre and in clinics, including the teaching of medical and nursing students.
