Multidisciplinary role providing psychological care to patients admitted to the inpatient rehabilitation ward, Mellor Unit, at Royal Talbot and in the Better@Home service. About the Psychology Department and Better@Home Service The Psychology Department promotes the highest level of care for our patients. The department leads and excels in research, teaching and the use of person-centred evidence-based practice. As a team based in General Health, we work with a range of medical specialists and allied health professionals collaborating to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. We are a dedicated team who value connection and collaboration and provide a supportive environment to learn and develop. Better@Home is a multidisciplinary inpatient service allowing patients to continue their care at home where appropriate and preferred by the patient. It aims to help patients achieve their goals, prevent re-admission and in certain circumstances, avoid hospital admission altogether. Patients are admitted to the program from any of the three Austin Health sites (including ED), the community and other hospitals. The program has a grade 4 allied health team lead as well as a multidisciplinary team comprising nursing, medical and allied health professionals. The target length of stay is 2 weeks. About the role We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Clinical Psychologist who is passionate about working with patients with co-occurring psychological concerns and physical health conditions within a subacute setting. You will provide psychological assessment and intervention to neurological, orthopaedic, amputee and GEM patients on the inpatient rehabilitation ward, Mellor Unit, at Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre. This role also includes brief psychological care to patients in their home during their Better@Home admission. Within both services the Senior Clinical Psychologist will be working closely with the multidisciplinary team to support best practice care and outcomes for patients. This is a permanent part time (0.3 EFT) position. We offer a supportive environment including supervision and professional development opportunities. A regular day will see you: Providing psychological care to patients presenting with high prevalence psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety, health trauma, adjustment concerns and grief/loss. Adopting a flexible approach to caseload management and involvement in patient centred intervention. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide best patient care including secondary consultation around patient management. Liaising with external agencies and community supports to implement appropriate community referrals.   About you To be successful in this role you will have: A Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Psychology Board of Australia and endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist; Experience providing comprehensive psychological care within a health or hospital based setting. Knowledge and skills working with high prevalence psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment and grief. High level interpersonal skills that promote teamwork and engagement. For appointment at a Grade 3 level, candidates should have at least five years’ clinical experience and AHPRA approved supervisor status.
