Role: Senior Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychologist
Location: Grace Park road, Drumcondra, Dublin 9
Hours: 20 per week
Contract Type: Permanente

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Clinical Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team, providing psychological assessment, support, and intervention for children and adolescents aged 0-18 years who have a visual impairment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role for these young individuals and their families, through dynamic assessment and intervention addressing the unique challenges that visual impairment may present in terms of development, learning, social interactions, and emotional regulation.
This position offers the opportunity to build specific expertise and knowledge of working with the visually impaired population within a dynamic, supportive environment, where you will collaborate with other professionals, including functional vision assessors, speech and language therapists, occupational therapist, physiotherapists, orientation and mobility instructors and early year teachers to provide holistic care for children and young people.

TRAINING AND EDUCATION:

Lead training sessions for other professionals, including teachers, healthcare providers, and social workers, on the psychological needs of children with visual impairments. Promote awareness of best practices in supporting these children.

QUALIFICATION:

  • A Doctorate in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology (or equivalent), accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or an equivalent body.
  • Registered with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or eligible for registration.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in clinical, counselling or educational psychology, with a significant focus on working with children and adolescents.
  • Experience working with children with disabilities is essential.
  • Demonstrable experience in psychological assessments, therapy, and family support.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong understanding of the developmental and psychological impact of visual impairment on children and adolescents.
  • Expertise in a range of psychological therapeutic techniques and assessments.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary team collaboration and consultation.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage with children, families, and professionals.
