    The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Clinical Review Officer to provide a critical role within Justice Health.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • A tertiary qualification in a health or related field.
  • Current AHPRA registration is essential.
Responsibilities

Justice Health is responsible for:

  • The delivery of primary health, primary mental health and specialist forensic mental health services for people in Victorian prisons and young people in custodial centres. In Victoria, health services to people in adult correctional and youth justice facilities are delivered by both public and private providers
  • Managing relevant contractual arrangements, including overseeing the delivery of health services and the provision and maintenance of all medical records in an electronic medical record
  • Facilitating the release of health information to community health care providers, legal representatives, and individuals
  • The design, procurement and delivery of new and innovative, evidenced-based health services that meet the needs of people of all ages and genders in custody

The Adult Health Oversight Unit is responsible for:

  • Oversight of the delivery of health services across the Victorian adult correctional system
  • Ensuring service providers work collaboratively to ensure integrated and coordinated approaches to meeting the needs of people in custody
  • Driving ongoing improvements to service delivery.
  • The Adult Health Oversight Unit achieves this through working collaboratively with people in custody, health service providers, Corrections Victoria staff and public health providers

Some of your duties will include:

  • Undertake reviews of health care delivery, policies and procedures in relation to deaths in custody and major incidents in the youth justice and corrections systems.
  • Provide evidence-based advice to inform service design and system improvements.
  • Maintain sound review frameworks, systems and processes that foster a culture of accountability, whilst encouraging innovation and problem solving

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in a highly sensitive and complex health environment
  • Demonstrated experience in a quality focused role coupled with a thorough understanding of Risk Management principles.
  • Knowledge of current policy directions, research and issues within health, corrections or the criminal justice system more broadly, or the ability to understand these issues quickly.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to analyse complex operational, policy and clinical issues to support Justice Health
