We are looking for a hands-on Senior Cloud Operations Engineer to join a large and well-established organisation and play a key role in the operation, security and continuous improvement of its cloud environment.
This is not a pure DevOps or Kubernetes role. We are looking for someone with a strong Cloud Operations mindset who is comfortable operating production environments and brings experience across ITSM, security operations and cloud cost optimisation.
- What you'll be doingOperate and support a large-scale Microsoft Azure environment, ensuring performance, availability, reliability and security.
- Take ownership of day-to-day Cloud Operations, including monitoring, incident response, problem resolution, patching and continuous improvement.
- Work within established ITSM processes, including incident, problem and change management.
- Support and improve cloud monitoring, observability and operational alerting.
- Partner with security teams to strengthen cloud security operations, including identity, access, vulnerability remediation and security monitoring.
- Drive FinOps and cloud cost optimisation initiatives, including identifying opportunities for rightsizing, improving cost visibility and optimising cloud consumption.
- Automate operational tasks and improve the reliability and efficiency of the cloud platform.
- Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks and support procedures.
- Support the organisation's evolving use of AI-enabled workloads and AIOps, including intelligent monitoring, automation and AI-assisted operational processes.
- What we're looking forStrong hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure Cloud Operations.
- A genuine operational background supporting production cloud environments, rather than purely project or platform build experience.
- Experience with ITSM / ITIL, including incident, problem and change management.
- Strong SecOps / cloud security experience, ideally across areas such as Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID, RBAC, Conditional Access, vulnerability management or security monitoring.
- Demonstrated FinOps or cloud cost optimisation experience, including Azure Cost Management, rightsizing, tagging, reserved capacity or improving cloud cost visibility.
- Experience with cloud monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Application Insights.
- Exposure to automation and Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, Bicep or PowerShell.
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud and enterprise infrastructure environments will be highly regarded.
- Exposure to AIOps or AI-enabled cloud workloads would be advantageous, but you do not need to be an AI specialist.
